- A protective screen of balloons moored around the target likely to be attacked by enemy aircraft. The mooring cables are made of steel and can lethally damage an aircraft flying through the barrage. The balloons can be raised and lowered to permit one’s own and friendly aircraft to transit through the area while being defended by the barrage.
